Hello!
My name is Kasey and I am so happy to find you here!
My heart for missions somewhat stems from my Indian culture, a central part of me that I cherish dearly. As a first-generation Indian, I am eternally grateful for the boldness my mother demonstrated as a 20 year old leaving behind her family in India, to give her children a life of opportunity in America. Though I lived in the States, much of my summers were spent in India with my extended family. While living overseas led me to embrace my Malayalee (South Indian) heritage, seeing the mounting compromises they made in their finances, health and education deeply burdened me. As a nine year old, silently watching my grandmother's health deteriorate with unavailing medical help germinated my affinity for medicine, edifying my commitment to alleviate the unjust distribution of healthcare. My grandmother, or amici, unveiled my eyes to the sweeping inequality that robs many of their health, exposing the edifice of medicine built on social, economic, and gender pillars.
When I go to India and see girls my age bathing in murky rainwater pooled by a roadside ditch, I cannot help but think how that could have very well been me. I feel very fortunate, to my immigrant mother, to live in the U.S, where I can pursue a career in medicine that channels healing amid impoverishment, an opportunity many girls in India never have. Growing up, my exposure to India’s poverty sparked an unwavering eye of compassion towards underserved areas, essentially leading me to King’s castle Ministry in El Salvador. It was on this medical mission trip that I saw the Holy Spirit actively moving in every heart, especially mine. Ever since surrendering my life to Jesus in college, I have been devoutly pursuing my faith, speculating medicine as my ministry felid. Within one week, this mere inclination had become a vision and the Lord confirmed my call to medical missions. By His hand, divine appointments and doors of opportunity were opened, leading me to this point!
I am prayerfully leaning into the Lord and his will for my life, even though I am only seeing a little glimpse of the mosaic He has painted. Through it all, I know that He is with me, reaffirming me with His divine peace. I have great comfort in knowing that the creator of the universe has gone before each one of us, and will help us respond in obedience to his call for our lives! I hope we can serve the beautiful country of El Salvador together, one step, one prayer and one life at a time.
When I was walking through the darkest season of my life, I had found Jesus beside me in the trenches with open arms. I traded my emptiness for His unconditional love, and since then have witnessed his redemptive power bring everlasting joy in my life. Once I tasted the goodness of the Lord, I was gripped to share that sweetness with others, which is why I am captivated to touch neglected communities with the gospel. For the lonely and lost hearts in this world, I want to encourage them that there is a God who knows and hears the cries of their heart. Just as God answered me in my greatest moment of desperation, I know He will satisfy every heart that is searching.
On my medical mission trip to El Salvador in 2021, intimately witnessing the pervasive strain of gang criminality, drug addiction and domestic abuse profoundly burdened me. I am particularly moved by the mission of King's Castle because they intentionally seek out and mold children into disciples of Christ. Surprisingly, many of the gang leaders actually want their children to escape the violent gang lifestyle, so they have established an alliance with King's Castle to protect, educate and raise a generation of Christ-filled influencers. Due to the domineering control of various gangs, many of these children are conditioned by homes of proliferative abuse, but through evangelism initiatives, these children have the opportunity to accept Jesus into their hearts and lead others to Him.
